I have volunteered to coordinate a CMoms donation drive to benefit Inn from the Cold this holiday season. A blurb about Inn from the Cold, as taken from their website at innfromthecold.org -

A Place of Hope for Calgary's Homeless Families

Imagine…not having a place to call home.

Children, women and men from all walks of life live on the streets of Calgary. They are without a home and often without hope. Their stories may be different, but a common fact unites them: homelessness can happen to anyone. Tomorrow, it will be someone new. Thankfully, there is a place of shelter, hope and help. That place is Inn from the Cold.

This is their current wish list -

** Desperate need of Mens and Ladies gloves, hats, scarves and adult boots**

• Gloves or mittens, hats and scarves (wind-proof) - New preferred but used in good condition is ok
• Thermal long underwear for men, women and children
• Hot Shots (hand and feet warmers)
• Lip balm
• Adult Boots
• Lotion
• Gift certificates/cards for groceries, restaurants, music
stores, furniture stores, department and clothing stores
• New clothes for men, women, teens and children
• Chocolates and other treats
• Small purses or wallets
• Travel mugs
• Art supplies and/or sketch books
• Small musical instruments
• Wrist watches

No Socks or Toys are Needed.

They also have an ongoing need for transit passes, new toiletries, baby supplies and phone or grocery cards.

If you can donate any of the items on this list, please contact me via PM and we can arrange a convenient pickup time. Darlene (moonstar) in Cranston has offered to be a dropoff location, for those in the South part of town.

If anyone else would consider being a dropoff point this week please PM me as well.

I would like to set a deadline of 9PM Friday evening, December 19, for donations so I can plan out an optimal pickup route and get that done over the weekend. Ideally I'd like to be able to make the delivery to the Inn on Monday or Tuesday next week.

With your help we can make a difference in someone's life.

Well, ladies....I just have to say, I am proud to be a member of CMoms.

I dropped off the items donated by all you wonderful people yesterday at Inn from the Cold and...well, I'm just speechless. It took three people - myself, my sister and my niece - to carry in the boxes of goodies from the car.

The ladies manning the donation room were in tears over your generosity. They asked for contact information so they could send a more formal thank you so I gave them my email address - I will post their email when I receive it.

Thank you, everyone. You truly did make a difference for someone this Christmas.
